When steaming, it is particularly important that the kiln is designed correctly. If pine is being steamed, for example, we recommend that the interior be made entirely of stainless steel plates 1/8‘‘ (3mm) thick. These are welded to be steam-tight, including in the floor area.

The stainless steel cover thus protects the concrete floor from aggressive lumber substances released during the steaming process. In combined steaming-drying kilns, the correct choice of fan motors and their protection are crucial.
