Track kiln – HTD 100
One of the most widely used dry kilns in the lumber industry is the HTD 100. This type of kiln is loaded by forklift and it is available in all possible sizes; even kilns with door widths of more than 49ft (15m) are commonly used. Above all, it´s the great flexibility that makes the HTD so attractive.
The HTD track kiln – boosted with intermediate heating
The HTD track kiln is one of the conventional fresh/exhaust air kilns, but unlike the HTR, it is loaded manually, semi-automatically, or fully automated via rails with kiln carts. Its great advantage is the use of intermediate heating (booster coils) in the middle of the kiln, because reheating the air flow results in improved drying of the lumber packages arranged on the inner tracks and also allows for much longer air travel distance. Climate sensors are attached to the intermediate heating system, which not only gauge the temperature drop of the air flow, but also determine the current lumber moisture content. Due to the special arrangement of the lumber packages, there is no size limitation for the kiln.
