Hildebrand Turbo Technology®

In conventional dryers, the dehumidification is directly influenced within acceptable limits by a suitable choice of temperature, humidity and air speed; A direct influence in the lumber core (in contrast to vacuum drying) is not possible.

According to the scientific knowledge of the changing climate (change of temperature and climate in appropriate time intervals depending on the wood moisture), it can be useful for the dehumidification if the lumber is alternately subjected to a wood-stress "stress situation" and a "relaxation phase".
Keyword (s): "Stop the fans for better drying".
The creep behavior of the lumber is greatly increased with changing climatic conditions and air speeds over the wood surface compared to a constant climate. To the same extent, the maximum elongation of the wood is also increased (elasticity limit of the wood transversely to the fiber direction). The changing climate can thus not only lead to faster drying, but also to a better quality of sawn timber.

The Hildebrand Turbo Technology® combined with our software uses this princible . This system is based on height-adjustable aluminum baffles, which are mounted between profiled aluminum rails in the area between the lumber stacks. The HTT® baffles are always repositioned by the computer control system determined by the continues drying data.

As a result, parts of the lumber stacks are temporarily blocked from the air flow in the kiln. The blocked section of the stacks will have a reduced airspeed of nearly 0 ft/min, while the othe sections will have an increased airflow thru the lumber. Even without strong air movement, the lumber in the blocked section is gently drying further due to the internal steam pressure between the shell and core of the lumber

The lumber will be put into "relaxation phase" by reducing the drying stress, while the drying process still continues. Permanently installed side baffles and thresholds on the floor are also part of this concept.

The patented HILDEBRAND Turbo Technology® (HTT®) enables the the saving of electrical energy without sacrificing drying time. In the blocked areas of the packages, the airspeed can temporarily be extreme increased. (up to 15 m / s) in the unblocked areas of the lumber packs - without HTT® this would only be possible with extremely large fans and a correspondingly high power consumption!

Advantage of lumber drying with HILDEBRAND Turbo Technology® :

  • Reduced energy consumption
  • More accurate air flow control and higher air speed
  • Avoid air shorts on all sides of the charge, resulting with 10% better use of the air flow
  • Better final moisture distribution due to constant turbulent air movement
  • Higher drying quality
  • Less moisture wet pockets
  • Less drying stress
  • Better lumber quality
  • Reduced drying times
